CD For the Troops II

November 25, 2008

“Music is the shorthand of emotion.” Leo Tolstoy

troops2coin Sometimes, music can move our souls and change our lives. It can inspire, motivate, boost morale, lift spirits, bring back fond memories or serve as a temporary distraction from everyday life. Grammy Award winners/nominees and multi-platinum selling recording artists Maroon 5, Keith Urban, Daughtry and Five For Fighting teamed up with 10 other artists to release the CD “For the Troops II” today, November 25.

Just in time for the holiday, we are giving our thanks to the troops and their families. “For the Troops II” will be available for free download for U.S. active duty service members and veterans worldwide with a valid military ID at the Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) Web site, www.aafes.com. Additionally, TriWest Healthcare Alliance is producing and distributing 200,000 hard copies of the CD at locations, such as military bases in Iraq and Afghanistan, America Supports You events, USO Centers, Fisher Houses, and others across the nation and overseas.

“I’m excited that the CD ‘For the Troops’ project is back with a new roster of fantastic artists and great songs,” said John Ondrasik who performs under the pseudonym Five For Fighting and spearheaded the CD’s development. “After the response from last year’s effort, creating a sequel was a no-brainer. The CD ‘For the Troops II’ has a bit more rock and a few surprises, but at its core is a thank you to those whose sacrifice secures our freedom and that of our children.”

This CD is the follow-up to the first “For the Troops” released last fall. Songs from the CD “For the Troops” were downloaded more than 350,000 times at www.aafes.com, and another 200,000 service members and retirees worldwide received hard copies of the CD. Ondrasik partnered with AAFES, TriWest and the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) to produce and release both CDs.

Please help spread the word about the FREE CD with “For the Troops II” widgets for your blog or web site-just like the one you see on the right bar (download here)!

One of the most common myths about AAFES is that we are contractors. This is not true. It [...]
