Make a Difference: Become a Mystery Shopper

June 1, 2009

I am sure you have spotted the Wal-Mart television advertisements talking about suing price surveyors to ensure competitive pricing. Well, guess what? AAFES does the same thing.

We survey prices Nationally. Check out the AAFES savings from the 2008 AAFES Market Basket Survey conducted at nine representative AAFES installation.

We survey prices Locally. Our managers and associates are always on the look-out for the best prices around town. We don’t want to lose you as a customer. We know and understand you have choices beyond the gate.

AND we use our own customers to mystery shop our stores! Become a Mystery Shopper! This program allows AAFES to receive feedback and suggestions from customers like you.

To become a Mystery Shopper:

  • You cannot be an AAFES employee/nor a family member of an AAFES employee.
  • Only one member from a household may register.
  • You must be at least 18 years of age.
  • You will be responsible for three sets of surveys for your current duty station (see information on survey sets below).

Mystery Shoppers are selected randomly from all completed registrations for the facility they shop and will be sent an invitation by email. You must accept this invitation within 7 days to become a valid Mystery Shopper. As a Mystery Shopper, you are responsible for completing 3 survey sets within a 6-month period. A survey set consists of a Main Store shop, a Services Shop (beauty, barber, dry cleaners, optical, florist, alterations), a Branch Store (automotive, Shoppette, MCSS, Troop Store), and a Theater shop if there is a theater at your installation.

NOTE: Each completed survey set must be at least 21 days apart to ensure best results. You will receive a $30 gift certificate, and a night at the movies on us (two theater passes with two large bags of popcorn and two medium drinks) after you’ve submitted each completed survey set. (If your current duty station does not have a theater you will only receive the $30 gift certificate.)

Upon completion of the 3 survey sets or after the 6-month time period, you will be automatically unregistered from the program, but you can re-register in six months for selection into the Mystery Shopper Program again. If you are not selected within 12 months from registering, you’ll need to register again. We require this in an attempt to keep out of date entries from being selected.

Remember, don’t just walk out the AAFES door if you see our price is higher than the same product at another retailer. Price Match!

I am very interested in becoming a mystery shopper.I read about becoming one in a Mail Flyer that came to my home around Veterans day a week ago in November. I tried to go online like it said to apply at aafes.com, but I was unable to log on to any logo that said to apply to become a mystery shopper.
Can you help me? I live in Colorado Springs, CO; zip code 80911. I live very close to both Ft. Carson (Army Post); and Peterson Air Force Base. I frequent both aafes exchanges on a regular basis. I am a attention to detail person and a saavy shopper; I price compare when I shop. I would really like to apply to do this, and am willing to follow your instructions to the letter. Can you help me find out where to apply for this “made for me” shopping opportunity? Thank you. My husband is in the Army National Guard and is currently deployed. Please contact me at the above e-mail address.
Thanks again for your time. Sally Flannery

We thank you for your interest in becoming a Mystery Shopper. Since the Mystery Shopper program is an online system, it will be necessary for you to have access to the Mystery Shopper website in order to register, get information on your surveys, submit completed surveys, etc.

Please try again to log on to the Mystery Shopper site. The ID/password will be the same as you use to enter aafes.com to shop. If you have never registered a personalized username and password at aafes.com, follow the instructions for setting one up. They are located in the block just below the logon area. If you have previously registered and would like for us to reset your information, just let us know and we’ll take care of that for you.

We’re sorry you’re having problems logging on but we’ll keep working with you until we get you in.
