The Mall @aafes.com is definately one of the most exciting things about aafes.com.
Our customers and associates can log in there and shop with offers and discounts available only through The Mall at places they normally shop anyway. Great companies like Hot Topic offer 10% off and the ability to use your Star Card… cool.

I thought I was going to get a really good deal on the Auction site that is now in the Online Mall section of AAFES.COM. Turns out to be a good deal for the price, however people need to beware. The shipping is way overpriced and if you live in Texas you have to pay sales tax. Ended up costing me about 25% more than I originally wanted to spend for the gift I got my wife. I will not be using the Auction site again. I can do better at E-Bay.

Terry,

We appreciate your business and candid feedback. Texas is one of the states that collects Sales tax on internet transactions if a Texas company ships to an address in Texas. There are about 20 states that do the same. Just depends on were the company operates and were you live. If you lived in NM OK or LA there would be no tax.

Since it’s a $1 no reserve there is no way to build shipping and handling into the retail price. What you see as over priced is the cost of business not directly seen but passed on to you when buying at retail (Cost of packing materials labor, etc.). Shipping and handling and tax is shown before you place your bid so you know exactly what you will pay if you win. If you bought at eBay, shipping costs are not a flat rate and differ by seller. Often times, the costs are not clearly stated up-front either.
