In the spirit of being a part of the online military community, this blog will spread the word about other military family inspired programs and initiatives.

Homes for Our Troops is a non-profit organization dedicated to building specially adapted homes for severely injured Veterans at no cost to the Veteran. The organization was started by John Gonsalves in 2004.

“Starting up a non-profit organization was an area as far away from supervising construction projects as it gets. It’s been a learning experience, and so rewarding. The outpouring of generous citizens at times is overwhelming. The veterans I have met along the way have touched my heart and I am honored to have them as my friends. Homes For Our Troops is dedicated to building specially adapted homes for disabled veterans, as long as there is a need.”…John Gonsalves

Homes for our Troops built 16 homes in 2008 for Veterans and have 14 more in progress. “These specially adapted homes help them meet the challenges they face every day – and will continue to face for the rest of their lives.” Visit their site to get more information, locate a local event, make a donation, offer services, buy HFOT gear, and even apply for assistance.
