About AAFES Blog
The Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) has been watching the corporate blogosphere evolve with various brands talking with real voices in conversations with their customers. We are excited to be able to take a more active role in the military community and hope we can contribute at least as much as we learn. The AAFES: Salute To Your Service Blog is not a “corporate” blog, but a blog where AAFES will be celebrating the military family.
Of course, this is still a blog representing AAFES, so you can appreciate there will be limits to what we can say and who we respond to, but our intention is to create a voice that truly represents who we are – a company of individuals who are military, former military, military spouses, and friends and family of military loved ones. We are excited and anxious to hear from you. We truly believe this will help us to become a better brand in servicing the “real” needs of the military community.
Now to introduce myself- I’m Lauren Vargas, your connection to AAFES and blog editor. My journey as an AAFES employee has been incredible because I have the privilege to work in this military community similar to the community I was a part of as a military dependent. And now, I have the opportunity to tell you more about both journeys. I hope you will enjoy the conversation here and be sure to keep watch for contributions from other employees, experts and friends of AAFES.
Meet Leah Miller, my esteemed colleague and co-author of this blog and AAFES_STYS Twitter profile…
Let me tell you a little about me. I’ve worked at AAFES for just over 6 years now and I’ve know Lauren for about 5 1/2 of them.
Although I have previous retail experience, I’ve not had the opportunity to work in an AAFES store. I have been fortunate enough to get a ton of good experience in varying positions and work with many, many great people here. I feel very blessed to work for such an awesome place.
I love helping people. And I like to think that I’m pretty good at it. I think it’s because I realize that small things to me may be very important to someone else. And if you are taking time out of your busy day to address a situation, then it must be important.
I look forward to working and interacting with all of you!

I am searching for someone that can answer a question concerning a sales promotion that advertised a rebate on a computer. The company offering the rebate on behalf of the exchange no longer is in business and now I am left wondering what to do.
